We love a glamorous Bella Hadid red-carpet moment, whether it’s a frothy vintage Yves Saint Laurent gown from 1959 at the Prince’s Trust Gala or a figure-hugging Tom Ford-era Gucci number in Cannes. But the model’s off-duty style warrants attention, too. And with her latest look, she’s managed to turn a fashion faux pas into a stylish statement.
Spotted on the streets of New York City, the 26-year-old model opted for an ensemble that wowed onlookers. The look consisted of a vintage geometric-print set with a matching top and midi-skirt, a white shirt with voluminous sleeves worn underneath, a cream top-handle Fendi Peekaboo bag, layers of pearl necklaces, and black micro shades. But the standout feature of Bella’s outfit was her strappy black sandals worn with frilly white socks.
Despite its association with tourists and awkward dads, the socks and sandals combo, if worn correctly, can have true style power. Opt for bold shoes and quality socks, like Bella, to nail the divisive look.
