SportTechie spoke with Lasso CEO and founder Partha Unnava about the company's growing reach within the sports industry.

Lasso’s performance compression socks are becoming more popular among professional athletes as the tech-focused apparel startup expands its reach within the sports industry.

Over half the teams in the NFL have bought Lasso socks for their players, according to company CEO & founder Partha Unnava, and a soon-to-be-announced deal with a Premier League team will mark Lasso’s first official partnership with a pro squad.

Lasso counts Champ Bailey, Earl Thomas and former first round pick Gareon Conley among its investors and ambassadors, as well as former NBAer Andrew Bogut and gymnast Kurt Thomas. The company up to this point has mostly worked with smaller properties like the Professional Pickleball Association and American Ultimate Disc League.

Lasso performance compression socks have caught the attention of 16 NFL teams.

“Where we started was really on the back of grassroots, community-oriented sports,” Unnava told SportTechie. “We've had the pro athletes as a part of the brand from day one. Now, we've kind of gotten to a place from a brand building and product offering standpoint, really from a corporate capacity standpoint, that we can start to look bigger.”

Unnava believes Lasso’s technology can help reduce injury rates by up to 50% for both pro and casual athletes. As the company grows, Lasso hopes to find success with its new grip sock and advance the technology around the magnetic properties of fibers used to make its products.
